Episode # 390  Notes

Episode # 390

We're here to help you become prepared for whatever emergencies come our way. Whether it is a natural disaster like tornado or hurricane, or a lock down, inflation, or food shortages, you need to be prepared, and we'll help you with that.

Does your over-thinking lead to inaction?
"Paralysis by analysis" can be a prepper's folly.
Before a crisis, we should have our action plans figured out, and during a crisis, we must act quickly to make informed decisions, so failure (to act) is not an option. We'll dig in to that on today's episode.

What does "paralysis by analysis" have to do with prepping?
We can focus on trying to figure out what may happen, that we don't take action on what we do know to do.

We can be too focused on gathering information, considering all the possible options, and therefore struggle to take action or make a decision.

Leads to:
     lack of progress,
     missed opportunities,
     increased stress and anxiety.

Causes of Paralysis by Analysis:
     Fear of making mistakes
     Over-thinking and excessive planning
Lack of confidence in decision-making abilities

Effects of Paralysis by Analysis:
     Missed opportunities
     Delayed progress and decision-making
     Increased stress and anxiety

Here are some key indicators to look out for:

Overthinking: or excessively analyzing every detail

Indecisiveness: even for relatively simple matters

Second-guessing or feeling overwhelmed by the options available

Striving for perfection - tip: we are NOT going to be perfect

Feeling the need to have ALL the information or options

Procrastination
from fear of making the wrong choice
leads to missed opportunities and a lack of forward momentum.

Feeling overwhelmed:
By the amount of information or options

Some things we can do:

Set clear goals and priorities
Make a plan & work your plan

Embrace imperfection and learn from mistakes

Utilize time management techniques

Set a time to do tasks
Set a completion date on goals
May have to adjust along the way

Overcoming paralysis by analysis involves recognizing the signs, setting clear goals, embracing imperfection, and utilizing strategies to make decisions more effectively.
